Students at Robertson Elementary School recently embarked on an exciting coding journey with the Instructional Technology Specialist as they delved into the Hour of Code using the innovative Code and Go Robot Mice. This interactive and engaging experience not only introduced the young minds to the world of coding but also reinforced essential grade-level standards related to learning directions and positioning.
Exploring the Hour of Code:
- The Hour of Code is a global initiative designed to demystify coding and promote computer science education among students of all ages. It encourages schools worldwide to dedicate at least one hour to coding activities, fostering a positive attitude toward technology and problem-solving. Our classes eagerly participated in this initiative, embracing the challenge with enthusiasm.
Introduction to Code and Go Robot Mice:
- The Code and Go Robot Mice served as the perfect companions for our young coders. These programmable mice allowed students to apply coding concepts in a hands-on and playful manner. By arranging simple directional commands, such as forward, backward, left, and right, the students navigated the robot mice through mazes and challenges, gaining a practical understanding of basic coding principles.
Reinforcing Grade-Level Standards:
